About Me
I have always been advised to do what I love. Believe it or not, homework, writing essays, and taking standardized tests has always been my passion. I now share my wisdom and experience in academia with students to help them achieve their own personal success.
During high school, I aced AP US History, European history, and World history. I was inducted into the National Honors Society in 2007 and began my journey of tutoring. Through college, I spent many hours in the writing center helping my peers learn how to write an A+ essay and master the tough subjects, like pre-calculus and statistics. In 2012, I graduated with honors from Saint Joseph’s University and was inducted into Psi Chi, the honor society for the field of psychology. Upon graduation, I began to professionally do academic tutoring.
Over the course of the past decade, I have worked with students of all age ranges. From teaching reading to kindergarten to mentoring college students, I have been able to apply my education to be adaptable and flexible to students’ needs.
In 2014, I began to specifically focus on SAT and ACT preparation. I greatly value my college experience and feel it is something all students deserve to achieve. Through my academic coaching, students are able to feel confident in taking standardized testing, prepared for the academic coursework of the college of their choice, and relaxed in the overwhelm of college applications. From start to finish, I am there to council students in achieving their academic goals.
I earned a Master of the Arts degree in Environmental Humanities in 2018. The thesis I submitted, which I spent an entire year researching and writing, was about using the theory of multiple intelligences by Howard Gardner to improve education. It is my personal philosophy that students have their own learning style, which is not always properly catered to in the traditional school setting. Through my private tutoring, I help students to discover the learning style that works best for them and reframe the material to make it more accessible.
During the application process to graduate school, for both my MA and subsequent applications for PhD programs, I honed my skills to help my students craft flawless resumes, write effective application essays and personal statements, and apply for financial aid. For the past two years, I have offered assistance for those preparing for the GRE exam and applying to graduate school. I also offer career counseling to help students figure out the best professional path for them based on their educational experience.
Finally, my experience includes working as a professional freelance editor, specifically for academic papers. I have assisted with editing and formatting thesis papers and also organizing research for data collection for graduate students. I am available to help with formatting, editing, and researching for academic work and college admissions essays.
I am more than happy to show you a curriculum vita of my past tutoring experience. I have worked for dozens of tutoring companies during my professional tutoring career and learned many tips and tricks for mastering homework, developing fantastic study habits, and organizing the material. I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned with you!
